Welcome to Good Roots!

My parents’ wedding March 19, 1949. Nana Hammond, Nana Pearce, Comma (what we called my dad’s dad) Mom, and Dad. Yes, we called my Nanas by their last names, and this may be the only photo I have of them together.

Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you know, I have been interested in our family history and doing original research for a number of years.   Now I am hoping to share the stories I’ve found via this family history blog.    I will be including the Pearces, Danielsens, Boyces, Hammonds, and beyond – I hope you will join me in this journey by subscribing.

My goal is for one or two posts per month – stories about travel, occupations,  and life in general.  And photos!

Here is a peek at what I am planning for my first few posts:

  • Francis, Mary, Earl, and Frances Pearce in Montana and New Zealand

  • The Hammonds’ 1923 relocation from Colorado to California

  • Joseph and Nettie Boyce in Colorado (1888-1893)

  • Anders and Margaret (Neilson) Danielson - from Norway and England to California

  • Mamie Hammond’s maternal line back to Montreal in the 1600’s - found through a DNA test

  • The hunt for Anna Hammond’s great-grandparents in Vermont and the Eastern Townships of Canada

I welcome your suggestions and comments.

Warmly,

Meredith (Pearce) Johanson
